The overload protector is a circuit protector designed according to the actual needs of the electric control industry. It can provide effective protection for the overcurrent, short circuit, phase loss, unbalance, wrong phase, starting process (avoiding starting overcurrent) of the power system and winding motor.

The composition of the chiller overload protection device: the general refrigeration compressor overload protection device used in the refrigeration system adopts jumping bimetallic protection. The protector is mainly a complete circuit composed of heating wire, bimetal and two static contacts, and is connected in series to the circuit where the refrigeration compressor is located. The working principle of the refrigeration overload protection device is that when the current in the system circuit increases for no reason, the heated wire will generate a large amount of heat. Under the heat of the heating wire, the bimetallic sheet becomes reverse arched, so as to achieve the purpose of disconnecting the electric shock and cutting off the entire circuit.

When the temperature of the compressor box or the motor is too high, even if the working current is normal, no hot wire will be generated. This can effectively protect the safe operation of the refrigeration compressor. More conveniently, this protection can be reset automatically, so it is very convenient during use. 

Cold water overload protection device: The bimetal sheet will also deform and bend upward, breaking away from the two static contacts and disconnecting the circuit. The protector can be reset automatically and has dual protection functions of over-current and over-temperature. It is often installed between the main and passive sides of the power transmission. When an overload fault occurs (the torque exceeds the set value), the torque limiter will separate to effectively protect the transmission mechanism and the load.


Precautions for using the overload protection device of the chiller

The first is that the refrigeration compressor overload protector has completely different protective effects on the refrigeration compressor, due to its different configuration methods. Generally speaking, the sensitivity and accuracy of the built-in overload protector are much higher than that of the external overload protector, so the protection effect on the refrigeration compressor is much greater.

Second, when the refrigerant in the industrial chiller is insufficient or leaks, the protection effect of the two overload protectors is very limited. Therefore, in order to prevent insufficient protection, a complete refrigeration system should generally be equipped with special protection for insufficient refrigerant. 

Third, when the refrigerant on the industrial chiller is excessive, the protective effect of the two overload protectors is also limited, and corresponding supplementary measures must be taken to ensure the safe operation of the refrigeration compressor; when the compression ratio is high, the protection of the overload protector The effect is also very weak, so it is necessary to set up low-pressure protection measures for the refrigeration compressors.
