6 Causes of Corrosion In Industrial Chillers

Industrial chillers are more and more used in various fields of industry with the development of science and technology, and have played their contribution to industrial production and improving product quality. But we know that a device can have some problems over time like corrosion. In order to avoid corrosion and extend the service life of the chiller, we take corresponding measures to avoid chiller corrosion as much as possible and affect the production of their own enterprises.

1. Unreasonable engineering construction, design and installation would lead to corrosion. 

Some friends should have encountered, especially ordinary chillers which have not done anti-corrosion, anti-rust and other treatment, directly placed in the outdoor environment, for a long time, wind and sun induce corrosion.


2. The system pipeline is corroded due to incorrect installation or abnormal work of the water processor. 

The cooling water pipeline is the channel of the water-cooled chiller for cooling water circulation. The water quality determines whether the system pipeline has any scale or rust, and the water processor will cause rust if it is not installed in right place or works abnormally.


3. The decontamination device is mostly Y-type filter, which is weak when filtering fine impurities. 

Y-type filter can be coarse filtrated of mechanical impurities, iron filings, sand particles, but fine impurities can not be finely filtered, so the unit runs for a long time, easy to cause condenser fouling, sludge accumulation and other impurities.


4. There is no quick sewage valve installed in the chilled water system. 

Quick sewage valve is applied in the freezer or chilled water system, which is characterized by simple structure, good sealing, small size and light weight, especially suitable for regular sewage discharge of the system, and has the advantages of corrosion resistance, impact resistance and long service life. At present, many enterprises have not installed a quick blowdown valve at the end plate of industrial freezers. It will cause corrosion of the system pipeline. So we should open and close the sewage valve 3 times a week to facilitate the system blowdown.


5. The water meter is not installed in the water replenishment pipeline of the cooling system. 

Cooling system for the treatment of water quality, generally use agents and fungi, used to kill and manage internal fungi, microorganisms, all kinds of dirt, etc. The use of agents should be on the base of  the amount of water replenishment and system water, quantitative agents. If there is no water meter for measurement, it will cause inaccurate dispensing, resulting in later system pipeline corrosion.


6. Acid and alkaline gases in the environment cause corrosion to the surface of the equipment. 

It is inevitable that there will be special gases in factory production, such as the flow of acid and alkali gas, which will cause harm to the surface of the equipment. So the choice of chiller in such an environment should communicate to professionals in advance, and give priority to explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant pipeline production in terms of electric control chassis or evaporator pipeline. So as not to cause later corrosion loss.


With the development of industry, the use scenarios of industrial chillers have become diverse. And the probability of equipment corrosion has also increased.
